ABOUT CUSTOM ROMS

Before I dive into the pool of limitless custom roms, I will want to explain in simple terms what custom roms are and how they work.
Custom roms are highly customized operating systems  usually based on a default kernel (i.e boot img) and a custom recovery (such as CWM image recovery, Philz Touch recovery, TWRP e.t.c).

First things first, if you are interested in flashing a custom rom on your MTK based phone, you should have:

1. A complete backup of your phone. Sometimes, things could go wrong while flashing a custom rom on your MTK based android and if you dont have a complete backup of your phone, you might hard-brick your phone or even permanently destroy it.

I will be posting a full guide on how to make a complete backup of your MTK based android.

2.  A custom recovery. Usually CWM (Clock Work Mod) recovery which is the most widely used and easy to port on all MTK based phones. The downside of this recovery is that it doesnt support touch screen input. Also Philz Touch based recovery, which is very similar in functions to CWM but works with the touch screen function. Similarly TWRP (Touch Win Recovery Project) with upgraded functions and touch input support,

I will be posting a full guide on how to get all this Custom recoveries running on your MTK based android in no time.

3. You should know the partitions on your MTK based android. This is probably the simplest part of installing the custom rom but failure to do this will result in recursive hard bricks and boot loops.

I will be posting a full guide on this later on too.

4. You should know what kernel your MTK based android is running. This will tell you what android versions of custom roms you are eligible to flash.

3.4.5-  JELLY BEAN (4.2) based roms

3.4.67- 4.4 KITKAT(4.4)  based roms

5. Once you do all the above, you're good to go!!!
